The farm through the year — the shows, the barn, the arenas, the fields, and the horses and riders who use them.
These photographs were taken by Zwaan Inc. at Lightfields Meadow Farm in Whitehouse Station, Readington Township, Hunterdon County. They show the parts of a horse boarding and riding programme that are hard to describe in a list of amenities: horses turned out across the 51 acres, the barn aisle on an ordinary morning, lessons in the indoor arena in winter and the outdoor arena in summer.
A good many are from the show ring, because a fair share of the riders here compete through the season, from local schooling shows to rated competition. Others are simply horses being horses in a Hunterdon County field, which is most of what a boarding farm actually looks like.
If a photograph raises a question, our frequently asked questions covers most of them, or you can read about the facility — both arenas, the stalls and the turnout — in detail.
